A local favorite, small Brooklyn furniture design company Uhuru, has yet another piece that we think is pretty fantastic. The Bilge Lounge is both elegant and tough. Made from discarded Bourbon barrels, the white oak wood is worn and slightly charred (a process used when making bourbon to give it color and flavor), with original barrel pieces re-worked and reconfigured to create a new functional design. Most of Uhuru's materials have been reclaimed, recycled, or repurposed.
